What is Web 2.0… Do I need a new computer?
First of all.. No, you do not need a new computer.
Basically, web 2.0 is simply a term to describe the newest generation of content on the web. There is still a lot of speculation as to what a site needs to be considered a “Web 2.0” site, but typically, sites that include some form of user interaction or participation considered web 2.0 as opposed to the static “brochure” style sites that are common among first generation sites or “Web 1.0” sites.
A good example of a Web 2.0 site would be MySpace.com or YouTube.com… Both sites rely on user interaction and participation for their content. These types of sites would also be considered “Social” sites, in which the company simply provides the users with the means to upload or create their own content.
Now, user interaction isn’t the only hallmark of a Web 2.0 site. Sites and online applications that allow you to do a specific task or job, using some form of online technology could also be considered Web 2.0. A good example of this type of technology would be RSS feeds.
